What is a DOT consortium?

A group of Federally regulated companies working together with the same common objective of achieving the minimum annual required drug and alcohol random testing rates established by the Department of Transportation (DOT) for the given calendar year.

How does a Consortium work?

Random Selection: Random selections take place on a quarterly basis (4 times a year) in compliance with the DOT required FMCSA testing.
Computerized Selection Method: Employers provide Sterchi Occupational Health with a list of employees that are subject to random testing. Each quarter computerized random selections will take place via our secure software system.
Employee Notification and Testing: Once a random selection takes place, the DER is notified by Sterchi Occupational Health that a selection has taken place. The DER will then login to their custom private portal to view the random selection documentation. The DER will then notify the employees that have been selected.
Results: All specimen results are reviewed by the testing Labs Medical Review Officer. Once the review is complete, the DER will receive results in real time through their private portal.

Custom Employer Portals

Each Company in our consortium will have access to their own private portal. The portal provides the employer with access to real time progress and results for drug and alcohol testing.

Sterchi Occupational Health will manage your consortium for as little as $25 per year. Consortium membership also includes discounted rates for in-house drug and alcohol testing.
